PRINCIPAL TRANSPORT TECHNICIAN:
BASIC SALARY COMMENCING FROM R381 160 PER ANNUM
• REF NO: TDA 16/18
Requirements: • A Degree or NDip in Civil Engineering • Registration with ECSA an advantage • 5 – 8 years’ relevant experience in traffic engineering.
Key performance areas: •.Assist in the investigation of various motorised and non-motorised traffic safety problems of medium to high complexity and the design of solutions to these problems • Supervise technicians • Assist in the identification, investigation and design of complex new traffic signal installations and improvements to the design and signal timing plans of existing installations • Coordinate the installation of new traffic signals by service providers • Assist with the drafting and implementation of local area traffic management plans • Assist in the development of practical and cost-effective solutions to localised transport network capacity problems • Assist in the identification, investigation and design of new traffic signs and road markings, as well as improvements to existing signs and road markings • Evaluate and comment on applications for outdoor advertising •Promote good design practices • Verbal and written liaison with various roleplayers • Assist with budget planning and control • Assist with the coordination of capital projects.
